Here's a sketchbook page documenting what went on behind the scenes of the Mean Mug's inception.
The all-white design dog mentioned is a Yoshitomo Nara affair seen at the Chicago Art Institute gift shoppe (sic).
I want one, but not as much as I want a pair of those Balloon Dog bookends that have Jeff Koons up in intellectual property arms.


Which is interesting, given his history with appropriation.

More than all of that, I want Y. Nara's haircut...
